If you have been keeping up with tech news and buzz, you know that inclusivity is becoming more and more discussed and considered in the field.  Many tech firms are being called out for only having a majority males, particularly white males, designing and testing projects for the future.

Clare Mcdonald writes:
​"It has already been proven that diverse teams are more innovative, but part of the point of introducing diversity into an organisation is to reap the benefit of different mindsets, coming up with ideas a team of the same type of people wouldn’t have thought of and ultimately better reflecting the diverse customer base the technology industry has.

Without inclusivity, however, it can be difficult to retain people when they don’t feel like they can be themselves in the workplace, and if people have to put on a persona at work it defeats the point of having a diverse workforce."

Which leads us to the creation of Women of Color in Tech - RVA.  Started by Randi Edwards in 2019 via the Meetup app, WOCinTech was created to provide support, resources, and job opportunities for women in the greater Richmond area who are in or seeking to obtain positions in the field of technology.
